New Motorway planned from Valencia to Requena & Utiel

New Motorway planned from Valencia to Utiel.  It will be a toll road, between Valencia and Utiel and will be ready in 5 years time to alleviate the traffic on the A3.

Thousands of Valencian are caught every day trying to exit Valencia by way of the Avenida del Cid towards the A3 motorway to Madrid.   This will be a problem that could disappear within five years if a plan laid down on Tuesday by the Councillor for Infrastructures is passed.

It plans a motorway between Valencia and Requena & Utiel and in the future will go right through to Madrid. The objective is that it is finished in five years The main characteristic of this highway of 72 kilometers in length and will only allow vehicles up to 3,500 kilos in weight, which will provide more security and faster journey times.

According to the previous study of the project, the new motorway will absorb 30% of the 35,000 vehicles that circulate on a daily basis around the A3.  The complete route will cost 8.6 million Euros. Nevertheless, the most conflicting zone of traffic for this motorway in the vacinity of Valencia will be to take the A3 around Cheste in a route that could cost of 1.3 to 1.6 Million Euros.

There are two alternatives for this Motorway from Valencia, being the Southern option and the Northern option: -

1. First Archduke Carlos would leave to use the bridge of Picanya, that would be extended, or via a new bridge over teh Turia.

2. As far as the North option is concerned, it would leave by Mislata and would go towards the airport by a new bridge.

It was explained that the project will be put to companies interested in executing it and that they will begin to negotiate the details with the various city councils.  If there are no misfortunes, the works could be finished in five years.
