New Ford Fiesta rolls off the production line at Almussafes, Valencia Spain.

Next Monday the Ford car plant at Almussafes will send to the new Fiesta, a newer model of the original, known as the "Nieto", which was the first ever vehicle that left this Ford factory on the 18 of October of 1976.

But it's not the first time that the Fiesta returns to Almussafes to be produced in newer versions.  On the 29 of April of 2002 the then new fiesta started it's production in the Valencia plant after an absence of more than 6 years.

In the first stage of manufacture of the Fiesta in Almussafes, the objective of the installation in Valencia, was to be a factory of the multinational automobile. This included the years 1976 to 1996, reaching a production of about 4 million units.  It has always been considered the "Iicon of Almussafes". In those years the Fiesta shared its reign with the Ford KA.

On the 29th April 2002,  saw in Almussafes the first unit of the then new Ford Fiesta, "Son of that one of 1976". For its manufacture, along with the one of segment B of the Mazda, the Valencian plant received a global investment of 341 million Euros.

The Mazda took more in seeing the light and left the Valencian factory at the beginning of 2003. In that second period of production of the Fiesta in Almussafes, from 2002 to the past month of September, they made more than 600,000 units of that Fiesta.

From last September in the Valencian factory until now has seen the preparation work for the new car.  So, this week it has now been  possible to make the first units of the new Fiesta, but denominated pre-production models, because they do not leave the factory for going on sale, but for testing and fitting the production line, ready for the imminent launch.

From Monday, the forecasts are of production are of around 50 units of the Fiesta per day and increasing progressively until the end of the month of February, which will see a capacity of 700 cars being reached, according to the Management.

The manufacture of the new Fiesta, at this moment of economic general crisis, is welcomed.  It is the hope of both majority unions at the factory of Almussafes, the UGT and CCOO, that being conscious of the difficult moments facing then motor industry, that they see the Fiesta as a good product to create continuity to the productivity of the factory.
