Red Bull wins Valencia Grand Prix

The Valencia Life Network reports...

Sebastian Vettel of the Red Bull team won the Valencian Grand Prix yesterday, with Lewis Hamilton in second place and Jenson Button in third, in an atmosphere of controversy after a spectacular accident on lap ten that saw Mark Webber sail into the air over the Lotus of Ino Kovalainen, and then crash into a safety wall.

This resulted in the silver Mercedes Safety Car being called into action as Mr Webber walked away from the crash apparently unscathed, but the race ended in angry words as Fernando Alonso expressed his anger at the stewards for allowing Mr Hamilton to hang onto his second place as a drive/through penalty was issued for overtaking the safety vehicle.

This view was supported by Ferrari who termed the Valencia race a Scandal after stewards handed out five second penalties to nine drivers for breaking the speed limit behind the safety car.

As the race ended, and tempers calmed down, the position on the score table showed Lewis Hamilton as No 1 with 127 points, followed by Jenson Button six points behind and Sebestian Vettel in third with 115 points(Fernando Alonso is fifth with 96 points). The next race on the circuit is the British Grand Prix at SilverStone on July 11.
