The Valencia Life network reports...As a direct result of the volcanic cloud that is covering most of northern Europe as a result of the eruption in Iceland, some eighty flights from El Altet and Manises airports were cancelled yesterday, most of whose destinations were various airports in the UK.
In addition 75 flights from Spain to the area were also cancelled, after Ireland, the UK, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria and parts of France, Poland and Germany also closed their airports due to the cloud. Overall some five thousand flights were affected yesterday and the situation is not expected to ease for at least 48 hours, but curiously enough the airport in Reykjavik remained unaffected.
It is suggested that those with travel plans for the next few days contact their airline before leaving their homes (More information below, in Other News).
