Benidorm Town Council has taken up a project that was started two years ago and has revealed that as from next July all cars will be banned from the old part of town, with the exception of those vehicles belonging to residents and - naturally enough - emergency service vehicles. 

The access to the old town will be monitored by a new system that recognises car number plates, whilst those vehicles that enter the area without authorisation will face fines.
