The Valencia Life Network reports...In a pan-European operation, the police forces of Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Germany, operating under orders from Madrid Judge Fernando Grande-Marlaska have arrested a total of sixty-nine people suspected of belonging to the Russian and Georgian Mafia.
Four people were arrested in Valencia, with the most important taking place near the City of Arts and Sciences, when the alleged accountant for the groups was detained in his luxury penthouse flat. Also arrested in Barcelona was Kakhaber Shushanasvili, the new head of the Mafias in Spain, following the earlier detention of Alexander Kalashov, who had been extradited from the United Arab Emirates.
However, after the arrests of these many high ranking members of the Georgian and Russian Mafia in the Valencian Community and across Europe, as a result of the probe launched by the Madrid Judge, it was also revealed that the biggest fish of all slipped the net. Lasha Shushanasvili, believed to be one of the top members - if not the top member - of the group and who resides habitually in various locations around Spain, managed to escape detention because he was staying in an hotel in Greece, whose police were not involved in the Europe-wide roundup.
