The Valencia Life Network reports...

Valencian Supermarket chain Mercadona yesterday revealed that it had managed to make a profit of some 270 million Euros last year, which represents a 16% drop over 2008, but this figure is 60% higher than the profit originally envisioned by chairman Juan Roig.

Other figures revealed by Mr Roig included an increase of five hundred in the employee payroll, and it is hoped to realise a profit of over three hundred million Euros this year, whilst adjusting costs and prices accordingly, so that  the the increase in Value Added Tax, which is envisioned by the Socialist Government for July, will have no effect on the company or its price structure to its clients.
