Valencia Mayoress Rita Barbera had already warned that Mascletas in the Valencian Community were under threat, and yesterday it became apparent by how much, after the new regulations were published by the Industry Ministry. 

Under the new proposals, which at the moment are ONLY roposals,state that the public must be at least thirty metres away from the spot where the Mascleta takes place. This is based on the calibre of the explosives, and if the charges are 300mm, then the distance is set to 180 metres away.

The new proposals also state that Mascletas may not be let off near hospitals, old folks homes. police stations and schools.
