SpainUnited Nations to set up a communication base at Quart de Poblet outside Valencia

The Valencia Life Network reports that The General Assembly of the United Nations  has accepted the proposal from the Spanish Government that Quart de Poblet - outside Valencia - will become the new communications base for the organization in Europe.

It is reported that this installation will be used to coordinate peace keeping operations undertaken by the UN across the globe. A formal agreement to this effect is expected to be signed soon.

Carmen Martinez, the Mayoress of Quart de Poblet, stated yesterday that in her view, the setting up of a United Nations centre in her municipality would generate over a thousand jobs, and generate an extra income of five million Euros.

Miss Martinez also added that in her view, the creation of the base would not create any security problems and the United Nations is an organization that looks out for world peace
