The Spanish Airports Authority AENA has now revealed that it is shelving the enlargement of the Control Tower in Manises airport until next year.  This decision is considered by many to be yet another slap in the face for Valencia on the part of the Socialist Government, as currently the controllers have just 77 square metres in which to look after the air space of Manises, El Altet and San Javier airports.

The European organisation for the air EuroControl has also stated that the diminutive size of the tower could represent a hazard for flights in the area.
