Francisco Camps, the President of the Valencian Community, last night attended a meeting of the Americas Cup Consortium and confirmed that celebrating the 33rd edition of the races in Valencia would once again prove that Valencia was more than capable of staging these sorts of events.

He also stated that Valencia and the autonomy as a whole were looking forward to hosting the event with great pleasure, and that every effort would be made to ensure that this edition was even more successful than the 32nd Americas Cup - points that were echoed by Valencia Mayoress Rita Barbera, who was also present at the meeting.

Also at the meeting last night in Valencia, it was agreed by all concerned  that the races would now begin on February 12 - a Friday - instead of the previous Monday. The proposal was made by Valencia Mayoress Rita Barbera and was instantly agreed by Tom Ehman on behalf of BMW Oracle Racing and  Francisco Latorre for Alinghi.

Mr Latorre also revealed that it was now almost certain that the races would be extended to seven and not three as was first thought. Mrs Barbera also told the meeting: We now have forty days to prepare for these regattas, and this must now become our top priority. Mr Ehman added that the first Show would be the arrival of the BMW Oracle Trimaran in Valencia Port on January 5 Coinciding with the Three Kings.

He also stated that he was Surprised and delighted that Francisco Camps, the President of the Valencian Community attended the meeting  and revealed that his syndicate has always had Fantastic Support from Mrs Barbera and her team as well as from other officials in the Valencian Community.
