According to Conseller Rafael Blasco, the foreign population of the Valencian Community since the year 2000 has risen by a staggering 465%, to reach the current level of 882,870 people. 55% of that figure is made up of people from inside the European Union - in the main British - whilst the remainder of the significant foreign population comprises Rumanians, Moroccans, Ecuadorians and Columbians.

In Spain as a whole, the foreign population has increased from 3.9 million in 1999 to more than five million today, with the most number of foreigners registered are on the Balearic Islands followed by the Valencian Community in second place.
