The Guardia Civil has been undertaking a drugs crackdown over the last few days that has resulted  in the arrest of eight people, two of whom are British - a 53-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman - who were detained in the arrivals area of Alicante Airport with one and a half kilos of cocaine that was discovered in a backpack. The remainder were detained in Santa Pola, after members of the Corps discovered several marijuana plants being grown illicitly.
