Tapas Marathon returns to Torrevieja

10,000 or more people can’t be wrong! Back in April Torrevieja ran their first Tapas Route and served over 34,000 Tapas. Such was the overwhelming success of this that the route has been expanded and become the The Tapas Marathon. It started last week ended and will run from Thursday to Sunday, through to December 13th. In total there are 29 establishments participating dotted around the City Centre.

In the lead up to Christmas, you can do a little window shopping and enjoy a day on the town, possibly getting your fill of both food and drink on route! The marathon is in operation from noon to 1630-hrs and from 1900 to 2300-hrs; each establishment will offer two tapas (one per category): a typical Torrevieja offering and a modern one. For the amazing price of just two euros (€2) you can enjoy one tapa with a drink (beer, wine, water, soft drink) plus, you have the opportunity to win some great prizes!

The ‘Maratón Tapero’ (tapa’s marathon) is working alongside the tourist train, which for only €0,50 will be visiting all bars and restaurants, so no need to even look for parking in the centre of town. Everyone who participates can pick up a voting form from any pf the participating bars or restaurants and cast their vote, though the ‘pirate manifesto’. In order for the vote to be valid, you need to sample nine tapas. Each time you purchase a tapa the pub shall stamp your card, to a maximum of twice per establishment. Once all nine boxes have been completed, you can drop your voting form into the ‘Pirates Chest’ to be found in all 29 locations.

You will have the opportunity to vote for your favourite tapa in both categories and from all those that participate there are a number of great prices to be won including; dinner at the winning restaurant, tickets to a major cultural event, hotel accommodation with all the trimmings and even a New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance.
