More problems at Valencia Airport.

There is now another problem at the airport, but this time it has nothing to do with Ryanair.   It involves Manises Council and AENA who run the airport.

Enrique Crespo, the Mayor of Manises, has now made an official complaint against the Spanish Airports Authority AENA, stating that it has not paid the 800,000 Euros rate bill on the airport, and that he is considering undertaking an embargo order, just as I would against any other company that has not paid.

AENA for its part has stated that it is taking a stand as it was not in agreement with the rates imposed on the airport, and accused Mr. Crespo of undertaking a campaign of blackmail, whilst it is also opposing the new rate charge through the courts.  AENA stated that the tax, which is based on 1.3% of the cadastral value of the land occupied by Manises is excessive.  Mr Crespo has answered, stating that AENA does not want to pay taxes to Manises as it is ruled by the Partido Popular.
