15% absence rate in Valencia schools due to flu

Flu hits the schools of Valencia

Minister of Education, Alejandro Font de Mora, has stated that flu has now reached the schools of Valencia and is causing a 15% absence rate.

During this school year the school inspectorate, under the guidance of the Regional Ministry of Health, will report on aspects of influenza A and act in schools where necessary.

Vaccination Forecast

To avoid this condition, a total of 12,006 people have been vaccinated against influenza A in the Comunitat in the first two days of vaccination. The campaign started on Monday and 6,289 people have already received their dose in the province of Valencia, 3,920 in Alicante and 1,797 people Castellón.

The Regional Ministry of Health provides influenza vaccine to 1,122,783 citizens: 123,500 in the province of Castellon, Valencia 609,300 and 389,983 in Alicante. Cervera stressed yesterday that the vaccination is an important way to prevent risk.

Eating oranges helps

The Regional Minister noted that between vaccination, healthy eating of oranges and tangerines and also good hygiene, all help to make the transmission of the virus much less of a possibility.

With regard to the functioning of the vaccination campaign, the minister for Health pointed out that little by little they are doing much better in Spain, since the benefits are now becoming increasingly clear. He also made assurances that the numbers vaccinated will increase over the next several days.
