2010 Fiesta Calendar now on sale for Alicante Province

One of our missions in Spain is to attempt to inform the ‘expat’ population of the events and happenings ahead of time, rather than tell you about events the week after they are done and dusted!

One man with this mission very much to heart is Scotsman Andy Ormiston, who not only published his first book on Torrevieja this year, entitled ‘Torrevieja Cameros’ but is well known locally for producing a calendar of local fiestas and events. This year is no different and for the fifth year the Fiesta Calendar has been published and is in the shops now.

For 2010 the calendar is even bigger and better with each month dedicated to a town and its fiestas – Valencia, Elche, Alicante, Orihuela, Murcia, Torrevieja, Pilar de la Horadada, Los Alcázares, San Fulgencio, Guardamar del Segura, Rojales and Santa Pola are all featured. One of the features that many like about this particular calendar is it’s large format, bigger type and large boxes to write your notes in.

For those who wonder when the next Red Day is or to plan ahead, the principal Spanish holidays are marked, appropriately, in red in the date boxes. You’ll also find the principal U.K. and Irish holidays and reminders about Valentine Day or Mothers’ Day in both Spain and UK..

As every year part of the proceeds will be donated in some way to many local charitable organisations; in the past years almost five thousand euros has helped a variety of those groups that do so much for our community as well as abroad. The Fiesta calendar is available in many outlets and carton holders are available for posting. Look out for the 2010 Fiesta Calendar when you are in Torrevieja at Bargain Books; Baeza Prensa; Cards Place at Punta Prima; and the Post Room, Nueva Torrevieja, Cards Place in Los Balcones. It is also in Greens Supermarket at El Raso Guardamar or at Cards Place in Benimar. As well as Bargain Books in San Miguel. It can also be found in several charity shops in the area.
