The Tourist Office reports that the European Formula 1 Grand Prix in Valencia led to hotel occupancy rates of over 80%.The Telefónica European Formula 1 Grand Prix, held in Valencia for the second year in a row, has become a major tourist attraction for the city and Region of Valencia. Over the Grand Prix weekend, a total of 159,997 fans witnessed the most prestigious motor racing competition in the world, leading to hotel occupancy rates of over 80% in the province of Valencia, according to figures compiled by the Valencia Provincial Hotel Union.
According to figures released by the Valencian Regional Department of Tourism, in August, the city of Valencia and the surrounding area had over 18,000 places available in hotels, in addition to a further 8,000 places in the coastal area of Valencia province.
This represents an occupancy rate of close to 21,000 hotel places, making this event an major tourist attraction capable of stimulating the arrival of visitors to the city of Valencia and the rest of the Region, activating occupancy and, therefore, generating positive effects for the Valencian tourist sector in the medium and long term.
