Fires near Altury, Turis, Valencia

Description:

There was a bush fire that swept through a small valley just outside Turis at the weekend. 

The road to Altury was closed for about 4 hours. The fire lasted most of the day and was at it's worst about 4pm, a large number of orange groves and grape vines were affected and a large area of the protected bamboo canes beside the river were destroyed. 

The Fire services (airbourne) were able to protect most of the properties in the area but the fire still swept through many hectares of land pushed by the very strong winds. 

There are many rumours as to how the fire started, but it seems it was down to the extremely hot temperatures and the very high wind that were to blame.
