Description:
The City Council Catarroja (Valencia) has launched a campaign to curb the participation of pet droppings in parks, gardens and public roads of the town. Its main objective is to create awareness of this problem. Thus, the City has created an email address where people can send photos of those who do not collect the droppings of their dogs, to identify and punish them. The council has also posted a YouTube Video which explains very graphically the meaning of this initiative.
Under the slogan "En són pocs, però encara embruten, ayudanos a identificar-los" , which roughly translates as "Help identify those who leave the faeces behind". They went on to say that they are only few, but they are still dirty, so help us to identify them. The campaign begins with this novel environmental campaign, which will run for more than a year, and its main objective is to spread awareness of this problem and act against those who fail to comply with the law and do not collect the excrement of their pets.
Guide2Valencia comment
Interesting doing it thriugh YouTube. We wonder how long before other councils follow this initiative. Let's hope it will be soon. There seems to be far too much excrement left in the fine parks and streets, that is a danger to children and can be a mess for pedestrians.
