Ryanair statement is likely to stir up controversy with the Valencia Community.

Valencia Life Network reported today that Budget airline RyanAir issued a statement yesterday that seems almost certain to stir up great controversy in the Valencian Government.

It is said that the article was entitled "The Valencian Community Deceives Passengers", with the opening sentence stating that RyanAir has confirmed that Angelica Such, the Consellera for Tourism has deceived passengers by stating that the airline will be operating again in Valencia from next Spring.

It further stated that Michael Cawley, the Vice President of the airline added: This is just another example of the Valencian Government trying to justify its disastrous anti-commercial comportment. The Tourist Department of the Community has refused to  commit itself to RyanAir whilst it hands 16 million Euros to our competitor Air Nostrum, which has hardly helped the growth at Valencia Airport over the last two years.

He continued:  The Consellera knows that RyanAir will not return to open its base or increase its operations in Valencia until the government  becomes aware of the reality that it is totally erroneous to fuel hopes of people over the return of the low tariff airline without having first undertaken the necessary compromise to promote the routes in conjunction with RyanAir. Without this cooperation, there will never be a passenger increase in Valencia that can only be guaranteed thanks to the low rates practiced by RyanAir.

So, we feel that this seems certain to fuel the fires between Valencia and Ryanair.  From an outsider's point of view and also being one of Ryanairs customers, it seems hard to believe why this debate has got so out of hand when all we want is to see more visitors to Valencia and for us all to travel at good rates, whichever cheap airline runs the routes.   Unfortunately, we cannot see that Nostrum Airlines will be helping matters and servicing our particular routes.
