Valencia participating in plan to aid the Spanish Automobile Industry

The Independent Communities of Madrid, Catalonia, Andalusia and Valencia welcome with caution the aid offered to the automobile sector. 

These 4 autonomies represent 70% of the total.  The Communidad Valenciana has stated that it will continue with its Plan to participate. Andalusia thinks that is a very hopeful measure. The comments came after the announcement made this Tuesday by the president of the Government, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, regarding the provision of direct aid of 2,000 Euros for the purchase of a new car.

Some reactions were not favourable but in the case of 70% of those taking part, namely Madrid, Catalonia, Andalusia and Valencia, that register 70% of all the cars in Spain, the reaction was optimistic.

It was also noted that the Madrilenian Government continues the lowering of car tax duties but it doesn't state by how much. The president of the Community of Madrid, Esperanza Aguirre has described the new measures as "very dangerous" and she has criticised that the Government for not consulting them before announcing this proposal to the autonomous governments. 

Aguirre has warned the Executive that the Madrilenian Government continues betting with it's fiscal lowering of tax, that is "immense". Also, she has criticized that the communities must pay 500 Euros to finance the purchase of a new vehicle "because Mr. Zapatero" says so, without having consulted them in advance of the proposal. Asked if Madrid is going to fulfill this initiative to help the automobile industry, Aguirre has insisted on her proposal on lowering of car tax as she feels that it is a burden on the communities.

Valencian Comunitat

On the other hand, the Conselleria of Industry, Commerce and Innovation of the Valencian Comunitat delayed until next Thursday to evaluate the new aid program, whilst commenting that "it is already set in concrete"  However, sources of that department guaranteed that the Plan presented by the council will go forward.  The citizens of the Comunitat can be very calm because the plan is backed with 15 million Euros and will give a subsidy of 1,000 Euros for new cars and 500 Euros for used cars.
