Valencia Hells Angels arrested

Valencia Hells Angels arrested.  Hells angels in Spain's main towns including Valencia were arrested and accused of drug trafficking and extortion.

At least 22 people were locked up, 13 of them in Barcelona, in an operation conducted by the Civil Guard and the Mossos d' Esquadra against the Spanish section of the international organization ' Hell's Angels Motorcycle Club' , well-known simply as "Hells Angels" or "Los Ángeles del Infierno" in Spanish.

The police action had been deployed in seven provinces: Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia, Las Palmas, Alicante, Murcia and Madrid. Two of the prisoners are member of the group in Italy. The police have confiscated prohibited military ammunition and bullet-proof clothing.  Those arrested are accused of the crimes of illicit association, when forming a group organised and tied in to the neoNazi ideology, extortion and trafficking of arms and drugs.

The operation was called ' Valkiria and Grígori'

The group organized itself under a paramilitary structure with international connections with other sections of Hells Angels. In the operation named as ' Valkiria and Grígori', that commenced in October 2007, the police took the prohibited ammunition military, arms, bullet-proof jackets, a kilo of cocaine and 200,000 Euros in cash, besides documentation, objects and books of symbolism and neoNazi content. At the time one of the gang tried to shoot a police officer but was unsuccessful.

The third police operation against the club

This operation against the Hells Angles is the third in Spain since 1996.  The last took place less than two years ago in December of 2007, by the Mossos d' Esquadra when they arrested 8 members of the Catalan branch of the organisation. The charges then were extortion, robbery with violence, illicit association and trafficking of arms.

One decade before, in March of 1996, in Barcelona the organisation called "Los Centuriones", integrated as part of the international band of Hells Angels and supposedly of Nazi ideology, was disbanded. At that time 34 people were arrested, fourteen of whom went to jail.  The charges then were criminal activities such as drug trafficking and arms trafficking, contract beatings, theft of cars and motorcycles.  In October of 2000, the seventeen arrested members of the Hells Angels denied being racist or having Nazi ideology.

The Hells Angels was started over 50 years ago in California, like a fan club of motorcycles, characterised by the use of Harley Davidson bikes, wear black leather and painted skull and cross bones on their jackets and helmets.
