Taxis of Valencia receive 388 complaints

The Taxis of Valencia receive 388 complaints.  The complaints from Valencians last year were: -

• Taxis older than 10 years old
• Lack of cleaning
• Lack of punctuality
• Shortage of night time taxis
• Little tact on the part of some drivers

According to data from the Conselleria of Transports, 388 complaints for all these reasons were received. 102 arrived by letter and 286 were via the Internet and there were 85 more than in 2007.  Metrobús had 175 complaints in 2008.

Antonio Guardeño, representative of the Federation of Independent of the Taxi, admitted to the paper 20 minutes that, with respect to the problem of the old or dirty taxis, "the case that can be given that some taxi drivers do not take suitable care of their taxis". However, he maintained that Valencia generally had one of the most renewed fleets as most were under three years old.  In fact, he maintained that the Valencia Taxis were amongst the newest in teh country.   He also felt that the number of complaints was not representaive of the real situation, but obviously they should try to not have any complaints.

It was further reported that there will be less taxis available for the Fallas this year due to the drop in demand in the last months.  The main hours affected will be 10 pm to 6 am.
