Description:
CheeseThis is old cheese that I found which replaced the need to go buy mature cheddar. It doesn't taste the same as Cheddar but it IS nice and is sensibly priced. You will find that Cheddar in Spain is expensive! You can get this cheese at Mercadona. See photo. It's more old Cheese, but a mixture of Cows, Goats & Sheep. But also, try going up to the cheese counter in Mercadona and try all sorts of different cheeses. In Mercadona they have special offers like the photo shown!
Notes:
Viejo = old cheese
Curado = cured and not quite as strong.
Semi-Curado = less strong.
Vaca = Cow. Cabra = Goat. Oveja = Sheep.
Spanish Baked Beans
We always used to buy Heinz Baked beans which in Consum are now 80 cents a can. In some corner shops they are over 1 € a can. However, we then discovered a local variety in Consum and I defy anyone to tell the Difference! There is however a BIG difference in price: The local Spanish version is only around 45 cents a can!! See photo.
