Description:

Alboraya

Vegetable gardens, thatched farmhouses and tiger nuts. The most genuine elements in the Land of Valencia decorate the scenery of this town, which is open to the sea by the residential areas of Port Saplaya and La Patacona.

Tradition and modernity mix up in a town that, far from being gobbled by the colossal and adjoining city of Valencia, has become a necessary complement to the big city.

The Coast & Beaches

The most outstanding element along its coast is the beautiful fishing town of Port Saplaya, whose colourful houses appear among the channels where a great number of recreational boats are lined.

It's small port divides the beach in two parts, a beach of fine sand with all types of services. At the port, a yachting club offers the services of a sailing school open all the year. Its most southern end, known as La Patacona, extends until the urban and popular beach of La Malvarosa in Valencia.

It shows a lively ambience throughout the year as, in addition to the residents, many Valencian people choose its waters to enjoy bathing.

Port Saplaya

Located in the south of the coastal area with its name, the beach has fine sand and shows a very bustling image throughout the year. It counts on all kind of services.

Port Saplaya North

Its environment is marked by the beautiful sea village which, besides shaping its urbanized image, shelters it from western winds. Open beach of fine sand and usually clean waters.

Patacona Beach

Located on the most southern side of the town, it is a very popular and wide beach of more then one kilometre long. Open and of fine sand, rides on horse back along it are very common images early in the morning and at dusk. Its waterfront is very frequented throughout the year, especially on weekends. It has an accessible area for people with reduced mobility.

Carraixet Cliff

During your stay in Alboraya, you can visit the Carraixet cliff, with particular and peculiar faunal species and with a special vegetation specific of the irrigated areas in Valencia.

The Tiger Nut Museum

Right in the middle of the Alboraya market garden is situated the first tiger nut and tiger nut milk museum. We are talking about a museum of a didactic nature which makes the history of tiger nut milk and the ways of life of the era known and promotes respect for agriculture through the carrying out of activities and workshops.

This museum has taken advantage of the Machistre farmstead, originally dating back to the 11th century and that has characteristic elements such as the clay floor of the 16th century and the Manises tiling of the 18th century.

Alboraya Festival

Usually the first 10 days of July, a  great trade fair welcomes local associations and groups and turns this event into a meeting point during the festival. Exhibitions and sports competitions are very important within a complete programme including bullfighting shows, musical performances and pyrotechnical shows.

Furthermore, the "tiger nut festival" is held during these days.
