Description:
HistoryAlthough during the Roman Age, Llíria, then known as Edeta, was the capital of Edetania, an important enclave, the first settlements in San Miguel´s hill date back many more centuries.
The capital of Camp del Turia certainly has a privileged location. Throughout the years, its neighbors and citizens have preserved and increased a rich historic heritage together with one special element which has developed this city into the City of the Music: since one friar introduced musical activities, music has really taken off.
Now, two schools, two bands and thousands of students provide sounds and melodies to the enclave, which transforms Llíria into an exceptional place.
Guided Tours
The program of guided tours in the summer "Històries Nocturnes" is celebrated every Friday night of July.
The activity combines thematic tours with theatre performances, live music and gastronomy tastings.
The municipal cultural Agenda has quarterly character. The music, the dance, the theatre, exhibitions, contests and conferences are part of the program. It stands out the " Mercat Medieval "(Medieval Market) that is celebrated in April; The national music contest "Jovens Interprets" takes place in May; in September, the music comes back with the "Festival of Bandes" (Bands festival); and in December takes place the sculpture contest "Silvestre d' Edeta".
The commercial and gastronomy fair "Llíria, A mós redó" (Lliria, full bites) is celebrated during the third weekend of September. The cooking contest of "Arròs amb Bledes" (Rice with chard) takes places the second Monday of November.
El Castellet De Bernalbe (4th Century BC)
This is a farmhouse of nueva planta, which means that the farmhouse has been all constructed at once, and that it has not had posterior modifications. The urban model, which is commonly used in settlements on hills, made use of the so-called central street, where structures are placed against the walls, at both sides of a road located along the longitudinal axis of the enclosure.
These houses had two levels: the ground floor was used for productive activities such as the elaboration of wine and oil, cereal millings, storage and metallurgy activities; and the first floor as a bedroom or granary.

To access the municipality take the Valencia-Ademuz C-234 freeway, or take the by-pass, which connects the road in the direction of Madrid and the Mediterranean motorway.
