A Planetarium, a Laserium and an IMAX Cinema all in just one building; L'Hemisfèric was conceived as a great human eye, open to the world above a 24,000 m2 lake.

As the eye that it is, it has a semi-spherical pupil, below which is situated the projection hall, eyelids and eyelashes, which move thanks to a singular work of engineering.

The L'Hemisfèric programme changes every season and brings together shows, conferences and three-dimensional IMAX films.

The Hemisfèric planetarium at the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias is a venue that offers an extensive range of shows, conferences and IMAX films throughout the year. In fact, it has only recently premiered its latest IMAX extravaganza, Egypt: Secrets of the Mummies, which takes audiences on an exciting journey to explore the tombs of the great Egyptian pharaohs, unveiling the history of this civilisation through the secrets guarded by the mummies.

Filmed in Egypt, Morocco and the US, this production reveals the work of researchers and explorers who have recovered archaeological and genetic clues to the mummies and their mysteries. Scientists study their DNA and decipher ancient texts to shed light on both modern human genetics and on the medical treatments employed in Ancient Egypt.

As well as Egypt: Secrets of the Mummies, visitors to Hemisfèric can also enjoy a digital animation production called The Enchanted Reef: Kaluoka'hina, a fun-filled adventure that highlights the importance of protecting the environment, plus the IMAX films Deep Seas, The Mystery of the Nile and Dinosaurs Alive!
