What is the OMIDC?
The OMIDC is a free information service for the consumer, which aims to help consumers and businesses find an amicable solution to their conflicts.
What is the official Claims Form?
The official Claims form is a four part form of 4 colours (green, pink, yellow and white), produced by the Generalitat Valenciana that the service provider is obliged to give to consumers and users, who want to make a formal complaint.
The person, who is making the claim, must keep the Green copy and send the white and pink copies to the Territorial Service of Consumption of the province where the claim takes place. The yellow copy must be given to the person in charge of the establishment or company, which is the object of the claim.
Which are the functions of the OMIDC?
- Offers information, help and direction to consumers.
- Is in charge of the reception, and mediation of the claims that are presented directly by the consumer or that are forwarded by other Offices for Consumer Information or Consumer Associations.
- Furthers consumer education and training.
- Collaborates with other private and public organisations, dedicated to consumer protection.
- Forward to the Arbitration board of Consumption those claims that have not reached a mediated agreement.
Generally, it performs any function that contributes to consumer protection.
What matters are dealt with?
Virtually all those involved in the field of consumption, in the following areas:
- Property (cars, appliances, toys and clothing)
- Supplies (water, electricity, gas and telephone, etc.)
- Services (to name a few, insurance, transportation or services provided by dry cleaners, travel agencies, bars and restaurants).
Who can use this service?
All users and consumers, ie individuals or legal entities who buy or use them as for themselves - ie goods, products, services, activities or functions, for whatever public or private, individual or collective use.
The OMIDC does not deal with commercial claims. Ie claims regarding and Goods and services used for the purpose of production, processing, marketing or provision to third parties.
